Shorty’s is currently seeking a fast, friendly, outgoing, bright, multi-tasking individual to join our team in a sales role or as a cashier.

What will you be doing?

As part of our team, you will help provide the renowned “Shorty’s Experience” to our customers and help grow our sales.  You will assist customers in selecting plants and materials, work with them to help them understand how to be a successful gardener which includes sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm gardening.  Additionally, your excellence in communication will be utilized in interactions not only with customers, but the community and across all levels of the company.

What are we looking for?

Experience in a garden center sales position; Knowledge of customer service and sales techniques; Outstanding communication skills and the ability to listen and understand a customer;  Ability to address and resolve concerns from customers and associates, demonstrate integrity and respect at all levels of the organization; Passion for our brand and product.

Additionally:  Exceptional problem solving skills in a customer-service environment; Experience in cash handling and POS systems; Strong interpersonal skills; Organization and planning skills including ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.  Common sense safety and situational awareness are highly important and acceptance of personal responsibility is paramount.  Schedule flexibility is crucial. Note, all employees are expected to be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout a work shift.

Shift Leader

Shorty’s is currently seeking a fast, friendly, outgoing, bright, multi-tasking individual to join our Management Team in the role Shift Leader. 

 What will you be doing?

As part of our team, you will be responsible for delivering the renowned “Shorty’s Experience” to our customers and leading a creative and energetic staff.  The Shift Leader contributes to Shorty’s success by assisting the Sales Manager in executing store sales and operational goals.  This position assists and supervises a team of Associates to create and maintain the “Shorty’s Experience” for our customers and Company. You will constantly consider the store from the perspective of management and the customer, reacting to actionable conditions quickly and thoroughly, including maintaining a safe, comfortable, and inviting shopping environment. The candidate is responsible for modeling and acting with Shorty’s high standards and guiding principles.

What are we looking for?

Two years progressively responsible retail, garden center industry or related experience, including supervisory experience.  Experience managing and motivating a team of 10-15 sales associates; Model a “customer comes first” attitude; Responsibility to address and resolve concerns from customers and associates;  Ability to demonstrate integrity and respect at all levels of the organization;  Passion for our brand and product;  Experience thriving in a semi-autonomous environment.

Facilities Team 

Shorty’s is currently seeking a fast, friendly, outgoing, bright, multi-tasking individual to join our Facilities Team.   

What will you be doing?

As part of our team, you will help provide the renowned “Shorty’s Experience” to our customers and support our sales staff.  You will help customers load their vehicles, unload deliveries, place material on the sales floor and deliver goods and materials to customer locations.  Additionally, your excellence in communication will be utilized in interactions with customers, the community and across all levels of the company.

What are we looking for?

Experience in a maintenance position.  Maintenance work in a retail setting or garden center is a plus.  Must be mechanically inclined, able to troubleshoot and repair equipment, use construction skills to build store fixtures and displays. Excellent driving record required. Able to operate heavy equipment and drive dump trucks. Ability to address and resolve concerns from customers and associates,  demonstrate integrity and respect at all levels of the organization;  Passion for our brand and product.
