Cashier  (Start date Feb/March/April)

Shorty’s is currently seeking a fast, friendly, outgoing, bright, multi-tasking individual to join our team as a cashier.

What will you be doing?

As part of our team, you will help provide the renowned “Shorty’s Experience” to our customers and help grow our sales.  You will assist in answering our guests questions by directing them to the appropriate department or person, or answering their questions within your level of knowledge.  You will engage with them at the checkstand, making them feel at ease while checking them out.  Additionally, your excellence in communication will be utilized in interactions not only with guests, but the community and across all levels of the company.

What are we looking for?

Experience in cash handling, including use of cash registers/computer systems; Knowledge of customer service and sales techniques; Outstanding communication skills and the ability to listen and understand a customer’s needs;  Ability to address and resolve concerns from customers and associates, demonstrate integrity and respect at all levels of the organization; Passion for our brand and product.

Additionally:  Exceptional problem solving skills in a customer-service environment; Strong interpersonal skills; Organization and planning skills including ability to manage multiple tasks/guests simultaneously; Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.  Common sense safety and situational awareness are highly important and acceptance of personal responsibility is paramount.  Schedule flexibility is crucial. Note, all employees are expected to be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout a work shift.

Horticultural experience/knowledge; Experience in a sales position, ideally in a garden center or retail setting; knowledge of customer service and sales techniques; Outstanding communication skills and the ability to listen and understand a guest’s needs;  Ability to address and resolve concerns from guests and associates, demonstrate integrity and respect at all levels of the organization; Passion for our brand and product.

Facilities Team

Shorty’s is currently seeking a fast, friendly, outgoing, bright, multi-tasking individual to join our Facilities Team. 

What will you be doing?

As part of our team, you will help provide the renowned “Shorty’s Experience” to our customers and support our sales staff.  You will help customers load their vehicles, unload deliveries, place material on the sales floor and deliver goods and materials to customer locations.  Additionally, your excellence in communication will be utilized in interactions with customers, the community and across all levels of the company.

What are we looking for?

Experience in a maintenance position.  Maintenance work in a retail setting or garden center is a plus.  Must be mechanically inclined, able to troubleshoot and repair equipment, use construction skills to build store fixtures and displays. Excellent driving record required as is the ability to drive a dump truck and operate heavy machinery. Ability to address and resolve concerns from customers and associates,  demonstrate integrity and respect at all levels of the organization;  Passion for our brand and product.

Carry-out  (Start date March/April)

Shorty’s is currently seeking a fast, friendly, outgoing, bright, multi-tasking individual to join our Carry-out team.

What will you be doing?

As part of our team, you will help provide the renowned “Shorty’s Experience” to our guests.  You will assist by directing them to the appropriate department or person, or answering their questions within your level of knowledge.  You will help guests carry purchases to their vehicles and help with loading.  Additionally, you may unload trucks, re-stock shelves or assist with deliveries.

What are we looking for?

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly through a work shift; Knowledge of customer service techniques; Outstanding communication skills and the ability to listen and understand a customer’s needs;  Ability to address and resolve concerns from customers and associates, demonstrate integrity and respect at all levels of the organization; Passion for our brand and product.
