As a locally owned, family business, Shorty's values its close relationship with the communities throughout Clark County.  Listed below are some of the ways Shorty's has recently partnered with other organizations to help children, those in need in our community, and other local businesses.  Shorty's also helps promote educational programs throughout Southwest Washington.

Community Garden - Opened in June 2010
In partnership with the Vancouver Watershed's Council and Marrion Neighborhood Association, a multipurpose community garden now exists at the Shorty's Mill Plain location.  Shorty's is providing land, utilities, and an assortment of donated plants, in conjunction with resources from the Vancouver Watershed's Council and the Marrion Neighborhood to continually improve the garden space.  Fruit trees, berries, and other edibles will be added, along with educational raised beds, tended by Shorty's staff. 

Master Gardener's Foundation
Shorty's provides ongoing donations and sponsorship for the Master Gardener's Foundation, which provides a crucial gardening and environmental educational resource for Clark County.

      

Oktoberfest
Shorty's annual Oktoberfest & Harvest Celebration is our largest event each year, with the proceeds benefitting the Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation.  The authentic German style Oktoberfest features true German cuisine, beer & wine, and showcases Donaumusikanten - an amazing Bavarian band, straight from southern Germany.  Donaumusikanten also plays at the renowned Mt. Angel Oktoberfest in the Willamette Valley each year.   

Vancouver Festival of Trees
Shorty's is a supporting sponsor of the Vancouver Festival of Trees.  Each year the festival is a hallmark of the holiday season for our community.  Shorty's is proud to help make this wonderful event possible. 

        

Doernbecher's Children's Hospital & The JDRF
For several years Shorty's has annually hosted fall and winter events that support the Doernbecher's Children's Hospital & The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.  Shorty's also conducts an ongoing drive to continually help raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Fundraising Events & Ongoing Community Work
Shorty's donated the event space for both the Hough Foundation & Skyview High School Band fundraising events in 2010. Shorty's provides ongoing donations to Alki Middle School, the Veteran's Administration, local & school community gardens, and various children's causes and sports teams, including The Arc of Clark County & PRIDE, SHARE, Pacific Crest Academy, Firm Foundation Christian School, and Southridge Elementary.  Shorty's also hosts American Legion and other non-profit drop boxes for back-to-school supplies as well as holiday campaigns and food collection.
